Samsung S8 Native Email App Setup for IMAP

This is a setup guide that will assist you in setting up your Hosted Mailbox with the native mail app on Samsung mobile and tablet devices, this is the default email app that comes pre-installed on Samsung devices, so there is no need to download any app from Google Play store to access email messages.  You can set up your devices using IMAP so you can send email, attach files etc from your device and have it fully sync with the server.  IMAP is the preferred protocol for setting up email on Samsung Galaxy devices, this way if you permanently delete the account, all mail data will be restored once setup again. If you have upgraded to the MobileSync service (Exchange ActiveSync), you can see how to set up with Samsung Galaxy with MobileSync. If you prefer to have app access through a Gmail account, you can follow this guide for setting up a Google account with IMAP

    1. Locate the "Settings" icon within your Apps Drawer on your Samsung Galaxy S8 home screen or other Samsung device.

    1. Within Settings, scroll down and select "Add Account" to add email accounts.

    1. Select "Email".

    1. Enter your settings with the following information:
      1. "Email Address": Enter an account email address

      6. "IMAP path prefix": Leave this field blank

    1. Tap "Next".
    2. The incoming and outgoing both have the same server host name. Enter your settings for the outgoing server:

      3. "Port": 465
      4. "Require sign-in": Checked
      5. "User name": Your email address
      6. "Password": Your email address password

    1. Tap "Next".

    1. Tap "Next".
    2. Within the "Set up email" screen, enter your Email Address and your Name.

  1. Tap "Done".
  2. Success! Your Samsung device should now begin syncing with your mailbox.

Please note: If you are prompted to select the server security type in account settings, please ensure that SSL or SSL/TLS is enabled. This will then ensure email is only sent through secure ports.

If you need to set up your email account on other devices, you can find our email help setup tool on the support page. There are also guides for setting up other Samsung email apps with Android devices. For setting up a Microsoft Exchange account, please use the help tool to find the exact server hostname for your version of hosted Exchange.  You can also find manual setup email server settings for other configurations or if you wish to add multiple accounts.
