Everyone has sent an email a second too early. Thexyz Webmail gives you a short window after you click send to take the message back before it leaves for the recipient. It is switched on by default with a five second delay, and you can change how long that window lasts.
Change how long you get to undo
The delay is set per email account, so if you manage more than one address you can give each its own window.
- Sign in to webmail at mail.thexyz.com.
- Open your settings and choose My account.
- Select E-mail Accounts & Aliases in the sidebar.
- Click Manage E-mail Accounts and Aliases.
- Select your email address in the Accounts list.
- On the Properties tab, find Undo send and choose the delay you want.
- Save your changes.
The new delay applies to messages you send from that account from then on.
How long should you set it to?
The trade-off is simple: a longer window gives you more time to catch a mistake, but every message you send waits that much longer before it goes out.
- Five seconds is enough to catch the obvious ones, like a missing attachment you spot as the message closes.
- A longer window suits anyone who writes quickly, sends a lot of mail, or handles a shared address where a wrong recipient is costly.
Undo Send is not the same as recalling a message. It works by holding your email briefly before it is sent, so once the window passes the message is genuinely gone and cannot be pulled back from the recipient.
When you need more than a few seconds
If you find yourself wanting to unsend messages often, Send Later is usually the better tool. Scheduling a message puts it in your Scheduled folder, where you can edit, reschedule or cancel it any time before it sends, whether that is in ten minutes or next Monday.
A common approach is to keep a short Undo Send window for everyday mail, and schedule anything sensitive so you can reread it later with fresh eyes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a message back after the undo window has passed?
No. Undo Send works by delaying delivery, so once the delay has elapsed the message has been handed to the recipient's mail server. No email provider can reliably retrieve a message after that point.
Does Undo Send work in Outlook or Apple Mail?
No. It applies to mail sent from webmail at mail.thexyz.com. Messages sent from a desktop or mobile mail app go out immediately.
Does this delay every email I send?
Yes, by the length of the window you choose. That is how the feature works: your message is held briefly so it can still be stopped.
I have several addresses and it only works on one of them.
The setting is stored per email account. Open each account under Manage E-mail Accounts and Aliases and set the delay on its Properties tab.
Is Undo Send included with my plan?
