To ensure optimal email performance and long-term reliability across all devices, Thexyz Email platform includes an intelligent Auto-Archive Optimization system.
Why This Matters
Email clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird and Apple Mail rely on local databases to store and sync messages. When folders become too large, this can lead to:
- Slow synchronization and loading times
- Increased risk of local mailbox corruption
- Search and indexing issues
To prevent these issues, Thexyz automatically manages large folders behind the scenes.
How Auto-Archive Optimization Works
10,000 Message Threshold
When any active mail folder (such as Inbox, Sent, or custom folders) exceeds 10,000 messages, our system automatically begins optimizing that folder.
Smart Retention Logic
Your primary folders will always retain:
- All messages from the current calendar year
- All messages from the previous calendar year
Automatic Archive Structure
Older messages are seamlessly moved into structured archive sub-folders using the following format:
Archive.Inbox.2023Archive.Sent.2022Archive.Invoices.2024
This keeps your active folders fast and responsive while preserving full access to historical data.
Accessing Your Archived Emails
All archived messages remain:
- Fully searchable
- Accessible in webmail (mail.thexyz.com)
- Available in all IMAP-connected devices (desktop and mobile)
No additional configuration is required—archives appear automatically in your folder list.
Key Benefits
- Improved email client performance
- Reduced risk of mailbox corruption
- Faster syncing across devices
- Organized long-term email storage
Can I Disable This Feature?
This optimization is part of our platform’s core performance safeguards and cannot be disabled. However, it is designed to be seamless and non-disruptive to your workflow.
