Thexyz supports CardDAV and Exchange / ActiveSync to keep your contacts updated across all your devices. If your contacts are missing or not syncing between Webmail and your phone, follow these troubleshooting steps.
1. Confirm your sync method
Contact syncing requires a specific account setup. Standard IMAP accounts only sync email, not contacts. Check your device’s account settings to ensure you are using one of these supported methods:
- CardDAV: The recommended setup for dedicated contact synchronization.
- Exchange / ActiveSync: Used when syncing mail, calendar, and contacts together under one account.
2. Verify your server settings
A simple typo can break synchronization. Double-check your device settings against the configuration provided in our Knowledgebase:
- For CardDAV, ensure the server hostname, username, and password are exact.
- For Exchange, confirm the server address and your login credentials are correct.
3. Check your default contact account
Phones often default to saving new contacts locally (or to iCloud/Google) instead of your Thexyz account. If a contact is saved to the wrong place, it will not appear in Webmail.
- Open your phone's Contacts app settings and verify your default save location.
- When creating a new contact, explicitly check that it is being saved to your Thexyz, CardDAV, or Exchange account.
4. Toggle the contact sync off and on
Sometimes the connection just needs a quick reset. Contact sync can be restarted independently of your email:
- Open your device’s main Settings app.
- Navigate to your accounts and select your Thexyz email account.
- Turn the Contacts sync toggle off.
- Wait about one minute, then turn it back on.
- Allow a few minutes for the contacts to refresh and populate.
5. Remove and re-add the account
If toggling doesn't work, local data corruption on your phone might be the culprit. Starting fresh usually resolves persistent issues:
- Delete the email or CardDAV account entirely from your device.
- Restart your phone.
- Re-add the account using the applicable Knowledgebase instructions.
