Over time, mailboxes can become cluttered with thousands of messages—old newsletters, notifications, or spam—that take up storage and make it harder to find important emails. This guide explains how to bulk delete emails using common email platforms, with a focus on Thexyz Webmail.

Bulk Delete Emails in Thexyz Webmail 

Thexyz Webmail provides several easy ways to delete large numbers of emails at once.

Method 1: Select All Emails in a Folder

1. Log in to Thexyz Webmail

2. Open the folder you want to clean (Inbox, Spam, Sent, etc.)

3. Click the checkbox at the top of the message list to select all visible emails

4. Click the Delete (trash can) icon

⚠️ Tip: If your mailbox has multiple pages of emails, repeat this process on each page.

Method 2: Use Search to Bulk Delete (Recommended)

This is the most effective method for large cleanups.

1. In Thexyz Webmail, use the search bar

2. Search by:

   • Sender (example: newsletter@)

   • Subject keywords

   • Date ranges (older emails)

3. Once results appear, click Select All

4. Click Delete

This is ideal for removing:

• Old newsletters

• Automated notifications

• Emails older than a specific date

Method 3: Empty the Spam or Trash Folder

1. Open the Spam or Trash folder

2. Click Empty Folder

3. Confirm deletion

Note: Messages in Trash may count toward your mailbox size until emptied.

Bulk Delete Emails Using Email Clients

Microsoft Outlook (Windows / Mac)

1. Open Outlook

2. Click the folder you want to clean

3. Click the first email, then scroll down

4. Hold Shift and click the last email

5. Press Delete

Helpful Outlook Tips

• Use the search bar to filter by sender or date

• Use Ctrl + A (Windows) or Cmd + A (Mac) to select all emails in a folder

Mozilla Thunderbird

1. Open Thunderbird

2. Select the folder (Inbox, Sent, etc.)

3. Press Ctrl + A (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + A (Mac)

4. Press Delete

Thunderbird is especially useful for very large mailboxes, as it handles bulk actions efficiently.

SOGo Webmail

1. Log in to SOGo

2. Open the folder

3. Use the Select All checkbox

4. Click Delete

You can also use search filters to target specific emails.

Open-Xchange (OX App Suite)

1. Log in to OX App Suite

2. Open Mail

3. Select a folder

4. Use Select All or search filters

5. Click Delete

Important Notes & Best Practices

• Deleted emails are permanent once removed from the Trash

• Consider downloading important emails before bulk deletion

• Large mailboxes may take time to process deletions

• If your mailbox is nearly full, bulk deletion can immediately free space
