People have recently contacted us with a problem when they try and use Microsoft services such as Microsoft Teams, or Microsoft Office Suite. To use these services you are required to create an account with Microsoft and if you use for your email address, then you will find yourself blocked. Microsoft instead recommends signing up for a free Yahoo or Outlook email address as a solution. This is a perfect example of why we need Antitrust legislation in place to prevent unfair business practices like this. We reached out to Microsoft and they confirmed that this is part of their policy. We did discover a workaround if you do need to create a Microsoft account, you can use an auto-alias

Another solution is to not use Microsoft software. We have written some articles listing some worthy open-source alternatives to Microsoft products that are freely available to use.
