The cPanel & WHM update process failed for the following reason

I just received an email that an update has failed:

Maintenance ended; however, it did not exit cleanly (256). The following events were logged: “scripts/rpmup”. Review the update logs to determine why the update failed.

[2019-11-06 11:45:44 -0500] E [/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup] “yum” reported error code “1” when it ended: w/ yum
[2019-11-06 11:45:44 -0500] E [/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup] Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities, universal-hooks
[2019-11-06 11:45:44 -0500] E [/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup] Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile

  • There is an issue with the new minor versions of MariaDB causing the database server to crash in certain circumstances.

In order to prevent this from happening to you, we have temporarily blocked the MariaDB repositories from our network so customers will not get the faulty update. Because of this, your nightly update failed, but this is intentional to protect the stability of your database server. You can safely ignore the failure notification from tonight.

  • Okay thanks ;)
